Summer News

Township Gazette

Well, summer is quickly approaching and with it comes Carol’s inevitable vacation. As much as the woman drives me nuts while she’s here, she drives me even crazier when she leaves for a couple of weeks. She’s busy traveling the country promoting her new Cattle Valley books in print. I’ve got my fingers crossed that she’ll return to work this week, hopefully by Tuesday. Until then, you just have me.

The park looks beautiful again this year. Thanks to all the folks who came out to help with the spring planting. If you missed out on volunteering, you can always make up for it with the big twenty-fifth anniversary Cattle Valley Rodeo Days. We’ll need all the help we can get. It doesn’t matter if you only have a few hours to spare, we’ll find something to keep you busy.

This years Rodeo Days event promises to be the biggest ever. We’ve already heard from World Bull Riding Champion Todd Lowell. He’ll be here along with a couple of his buddies from the pro tour. The committee voted unanimously to shut down Main Street on Saturday night to hold a good, old-fashioned street dance.

We’ve even managed to hire one of the best country bands in the nation to perform. Yep, you guessed it, Trick Allen and The Cowboys will be in town. It was harder than H E double hockey sticks to get them here, but thanks to our own Fire Chief George Manning, Trick squeezed us in. Seems George grew up with Trick down south.

In other news, Matthew Jeffries has moved out of his space at The Gym and into his new digs at the Cattle Valley Medical Clinic. The rehabilitation center will be open Monday thru Friday from nine to six. Matt assures me, once the center gets busy, he’ll add in a couple of Saturdays a month.

I can’t think of any other news off the top of my head. Of course, there could be something important I’m missing, but if you saw the stack of untyped papers on my desk, you’d understand. Carol may be a pain, but damn that woman can type.
